Lots of great games played this year. The top three highlights of the year for me were The Last Guardian (finally after all these years in development, Horizon: Zero Dawn (amazing visuals and story), and South Park: The Fractured But Whole (just funny South Park/Topical humor).
Under the radar for me initially, Life is Strange was really a solid story combined with its time shifting mechanics. I imagine I will be playing the prequel followup that came out recently. I can’t believe I only played Middle of Earth: Shadow of Mordor for the first time this year after it has been out long enough for the sequel to be released a few months ago. It had an addictive gameplay cycle for me trying to destroy as many captains as possible and moving through the map as your powers upgraded. I am sure I will check out Shadow of War when it is 6 bucks on Steam as well. Absolutely hated Severed by the end and just wanted to finish it because of the time that I invested in it.
Currently I am working my way up through the ranks in Call of Duty: WWII’s online component. I hated Infinite and Advanced Warfare’s too. Come to think of it, the last multiplayer in Call of Duty I really enjoyed was the second Modern Warfare. WWII is a return to form with it and I am enjoying it. Although I think it’s days are numbered for me as I am spending more and more time on PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (do I really have to capitalize it like that) more and more on PC. The Witcher 3 is on deck for early 2018 after everything I have heard about it these past two years.
